OVERVIEW:
Bread Avenue, a bakery and patisserie operating in Wellington, is hiring a Storekeeper with the following responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels for all products, in accordance with Bread Avenue's policy

  • Implement Bread Avenue's policy to prevent theft, spoilage and discrepancies

  • Request order for supplies based on agreed levels

  • Receive items in store in accordance with Bread Avenue's policy, which includes checking for discrepancies and damages

  • Implement a system that ensures older stock is used before newer arrivals

  • Monitor expiration dates and ensure timely use or removal of expired items

  • Ensure items in storeroom are organised in a manner that maximises space, allows access and preserves the quality and freshness of perishable items

  • Follow agreed procedures when issuing supplies

  • Maintain effective communication with all parties concerned to avoid shortages

  • Ensure quality of items meet Bread Avenue's standards

  • Keep detailed and organised records of all transactions

  • Identify and communicate cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the storage and handling of items

  • Ensure proper sanitation practices are maintained in the storeroom

  • Monitor and minimise waste

  • Generate and submit regular report

  •

Key Qualifications and Competencies

​

  • Certification or training in inventory management or related field

  • Experience as a storekeeper, preferably in the hospitality industry

  • Familiarity with inventory control procedures and systems

  • Understanding of food safety regulations and storage requirements

  • Proficient in using computers

  • Basic understanding of order processing and procurement procedures

  • Able to work unsupervised

  • Able to prioritize and work in fast-paced environment

  • Be efficient and organized

  • Able to maintain a clean work environment

  • Able to learn quickly

  • Effective communication skills

  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
